E-Filing

THERE IS A STEP-BY-STEP PROCEDURE TO FOLLOW.

FOR FILING IN PACIFIC COUNTY SUPERIOR COURT, STATE OF WASHINGTON PER GR 17 - ONLY FOR DOCUMENTS TO BE FILED IN A COURT FILE - FEE REQUIRED

An e-filed copy shall constitute an original for all court purposes. 

Do not mail original documents to the Clerk for filing after the documents have been e-filed.

APPROVED FOR E-FILING:  All documents, EXCEPT new Domestic Violence case filings, Anti-Harassment case filings, and original Wills and Codicils, will be accepted by this service.  See the Civil Protection Order link for directions for filing Domestic Violence and/or Anti-Harassment cases.  Original Wills and Codicils must be filed in paper form with the Clerk’s office and will not be accepted by this service.

FORMAT OF DOCUMENTS FOR E-FILING: All electronically filed pleadings shall be formatted in accordance with the applicable rules governing the formatting of paper pleadings, including GR14.

  • Filings over 100 pages cannot be e-filed.

  • Color copies are accepted for e-filing.

  • Filings must be filed in PDF format.

  • DocuSign or Original signatures are required for filing. Use of electronic filing by a party or attorney shall constitute compliance with CR 11's signature requirement.

IMPORTANT FILING NOTE
An electronic document is considered filed with the Clerk when payment is received and the document is uploaded during the Clerk’s normal business hours 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Any document electronically submitted by 4:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time on a business day shall be deemed filed with the clerk on that date. A document uploaded after 4:00 p.m. or on a non-business day shall be considered filed on the next business day.

STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS TO FOLLOW

STEP ONE: FILL OUT THE E-FILING COVER SHEET FORM VIA THE RED BUTTON BELOW

Upon successful completion/submission, our office will receive a copy of your cover sheet. You must then keep scrolling on this page to complete the final steps. Please note:

  • If filing a NEW CASE, all filings must include a fully filled-out Case Information Cover Sheet. New case filings will be rejected if not included with e-filing.

  • Use the E-Filing Cover Sheet Form below to calculate your e-filing cost. The $5.00 e-filing fee must be applied to each case, $0.50 per page to print for the hard file and an additional $0.25 per page if requesting conformed copies.

STEP TWO: MAKE PAYMENT ONLINE & SEND OUR OFFICE PROOF OF PAYMENT

STEP THREE: REQUEST THE E-FILE CODE UPON COMPLETING STEPS 1-2

The e-file password will be updated monthly. Once you have the code, please upload your files to SmartFile via the link below. Appropriately title documents so it is clear to our office what is being filed:

(i.e. John Doe and Jane Doe-Petition for Dissolution of Marriage-No. xx-x-xxxxx-xx)
(i.e. State of Washington vs Defendant Name-Motion to Continue-No. xx-x-xxxxx-xx)
(i.e. In Re Name-No. xx-x-xxxxx-xx)

STEP FOUR: UPLOAD YOUR DOCUMENTS TO SMARTFILE

STEP FIVE: RECEIVE CONFIRMATION VIA EMAIL FROM OUR OFFICE THAT YOUR DOCUMENT(S) HAS BEEN PRINTED & FILED

Our office handles e-filings quickly. If you do not hear from a clerk within 2 hours of uploading your document(s) to SmartFile, please send us an email. We do our best but things happen! Thank you for your cooperation.
